Curanderismo

Curanderismo is a traditional medicine practice in Mexico. As a holistic, embodied practice rooted in the understanding that health and wellbeing are influenced by not only physical factors, but also by social, emotional, environmental, energetic and spiritual ones. Western medicine follows a standard protocol for all patients without variation and does not propose to cure the whole person, including the soul. Curanderismo, on the other hand, views wellness as wholeness; it connects the material world with the invisible world. Its goal is to restore balance and harmony to the body, mind, emotions, and spirit. This ancient approach of whole person health has profound relevance in a modern world that creates fragmentation and isolation.

Curanderismo healing supports:

• Difficult or transitional life moments, processing change – relationship changes, professional changes, identity shifts, loss, grief

• Imbalances such stuckness, persistent low energy, heartbreak, unsupportive behavior patterns, addiction

• Impacts of difficult experiences of loved ones, ancestors

• Plant medicine integration

• Physical diseases or conditions, often as a supplement to Western medicine approaches

• Mental health considerations such as anxiety, depression, PTSD

• Past or recent traumatic experiences

• Soul wounds, reconnection to self

• Bringing and maintaining balance and harmony in the body, mind, heart, and spirit

Daniello’s
curanderismo practice

Curanderismo is a synthesis of Mexican Indigenous culture with influences from Brazilian, African cultural and spiritual traditions. Daniello’s specific practice has been honed over a decade of work and ongoing study. It includes his upbringing in a mestizo family with Indigenous roots influenced by Spanish colonization, training as a channel of hermanitos (doctor spirits), experience as a Daimista in the Afro-Brazilian tradition of Santo Daime, and practicing as a medium in ceremonial spaces and healing sessions.

Daniello's Lineage
and Practice

Daniello’s lineage emphasizes the energy healing aspects of curanderismo, whereby the healer works as a channel to support the individual’s healing process. Practitioners of his lineage believe in the power of spiritual healing through the intervention of benevolent spirits. They employ energy work, herbal remedies, and rituals to address physical, emotional, and spiritual ailments. Each curandero has a distinctive practice; Daniello’s practice incorporates tools passed down from his ancestors and teachers including energetic and spiritual cleansings (limpias) and purifications, as well as personal integration work with the subtle life force within, to release unprocessed emotions that manifest through symptoms in the body and/or in the emotional and psychological state.
